Pitzer College President Melvin L. Oliver is one of 15 education scholars and the only college president nationally to be elected to membership in the National Academy of Education (NAEd) in 2020. He also serves as the only member elected from a liberal arts institution. The NAEd is a nonprofit and non-governmental organization that advances high-quality education research and its use in policy and practice.

Pitzer College Names 2020 Alumni Award Recipients and Honors Retiring Faculty

Pitzer College names Romarilyn Ralston ’14 as the College’s 2020 Distinguished Alumni Award recipient and Steven Liang ’10 as the 2020 Young Alumni Achievement awardee. In addition, this year the Alumni Association began the tradition of honoring retiring professors, starting with Professor of International and Intercultural Studies Joe Parker for his transition to emeritus status.
Redford Conservancy Director Brinda Sarathy Awarded Fulbright-Nehru Academic and Professional Excellence Fellowship

Pitzer College Professor of Environmental Analysis and Director of the Director of the Robert Redford Conservancy for Southern California Sustainability, has received a Fulbright-Nehru Academic and Professional Excellence Fellowship to conduct her research “Best Practices in Municipal Solid Waste Management: A Case Study from Kodaikanal, India” over the 2020-21 academic year.

The US Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) announces the top-producing institutions for the Fulbright Program and the lists are published annually in The Chronicle of Higher Education.
